Food: White Chili

This is one of my favorite Autumn/Winter recipes. If you have been a guest in our home you have probably had this once, twice, maybe more! Since almost everyone who tastes it asks for the recipe I thought it was time to blog about it!

My dearest friend Crystal Lynn introduced this to me, and I believe she found it in a recipe book, so I can't take credit for the taste... just for bringing it into your life!

WHITE CHILI

2 B/S Chicken Breasts
1 medium Onion
2 cans of Chicken Broth
2 cans of Northern Beans (small, white beans), drained & rinsed
1 (4oz) can of chopped Green Chilies
2 teaspoons of Cumin
1 package of Country Gravy Mix

1 cup of Cold Water
1. Cook chicken (I usually use the George Foreman!)
2. Saute Onion
3. Add chopped chicken, Broth, Beans, Chilies, and Cumin
4. Bring to a boil
5. Mix Country Gravy Mix with the cup of water before adding it to the mixture
6. Simmer for 15 minutes and serve

Servings: 4-6 depending on bowl size

Toppings: Sour cream, shredded cheese, and Fritos (these are a must!!!!)

Also serve with cornbread!

Hydrate Shine Max: Keeps the frizz down and adds shine.

Essential Repair Colour Max: I use this before I spend time in the sun.

Root Lift: AMAZING.

A lotion that's great for summer!

I have used this for years, and I think it's the best after-tanning lotion I have found. It's a nice weight that doesn't leave you feeling greasy, and the scent isn't overwhelming!

Products: Lock 'n' Lock

We all know the benefits of tupperware, but I've always struggled with finding the best brand.

At this point, Lock 'n' Lock is a great option! I'm able to cut up veggies, store them, and they keep longer than using other brands that I've tried.

They come in so many sizes, and would also work great for organizing.

Product: Rimmel Eye Makeup Remover

This is my favorite eye makeup remover. It is gentle, and I think it does the best job of getting all the makeup off. The solution is light and does not leave an oily film on your eye.

Another bonus is that you can find it at almost any drugstore and it is very inexpensive!

I highly recommend it!

Ok, so recently my lovely assistant brought a box of these to work. She offered, and I accepted the chance to try them.

My life is now changed.

I am pretty much obsessed with them and keep a box in my desk for the mid-morning snack.

I suppose they're great for having around with kids too.

You absolutely must try them!!!!!

Organize: Sort It Out

Here is a way to tackle any room, closet, or other space

Designate 1 bin, box, or bag for each category:
Garbage/Recycle
Give Away
Sell
Somewhere Else in the House, Office, Etc.

Sort everything in the space you're tackling into 1 of those categories.
Once a container is full, take the appropriate action (this empties the container!)

And you're ready to tackle another space!

I recently purchased a pair of Pampered Toes for myself, and I think it is going on the "must give" list for birthdays and Christmas.

I love wearing heels-the higher, the better. Pampered Toes has really helped keep my feet from getting too cramped and sore after a long day of suffering for the sake of fashion.

So, to anyone out there, but especially the ladies, treat yourself to a pair!

I found mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for a mere $10 (and that's not counting using a coupon!)

Perhaps my all-time favorite cleaning product is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

It is amazing how well it works from marks on the wall to grease on the stove top.

The regular version is like a sponge, but they also have mops with the magic eraser on them.

Sale: Swiffer Refills

I use the Swiffer sweeper in my house, and it's perfect with all of the wood floors that we have. The wet pads are safe to use on finished wood!

The Swiffer duster works great... a product you should definitely try. It's a nice thing to keep at the office.

One of my favorite stores EVER is Martin & Osa. It's part of the American Eagle brand.

Their clothes are amazing yet extremely simple. And when you shop there it is an experience because they are so helpful. (at least at the Schaumburg store)

Products: The Neti Pot

This will change your life!

I have been using a neti pot for the past year to combat spring/fall allergies!

The difference has been night and day for me. I no longer take any allergy medicines, just my neti pot at least once per day. I recently bought a second to keep at my office!

Many people who have sinus problems have used it and they don't get sinus infections anymore!

It's AMAZING... totally worth trying!

Products: Lash Stylist Mascara

Here is another one of my favorite things!

I am in love with Maybelline Lash Stylist Mascara!

It's all in the brush. This one looks like a little fine-toothed comb, and I am convinced it gives me the longest, most glamorous looking eyelashes!

And as an extra bonus, several times a year ULTA has a "buy one, get one free" sale on Maybelline products. I buy it then, and usually pay about $3 per tube. It's a great deal!

Products: PHYTO Huile D' Ales

I LOVE this hair product! It is a great deep conditioner to strengthen your hair.

I started using it when I was highlighting my hair and I have been amazed at the difference it makes.

The box has directions, but this is what I do:

Use it every 2 weeks
After towel-drying your hair, apply the oil and comb through the hair
You can leave this on overnight if you'd like, just put a shower cap on to keep your pillow dry!
Wash out with mild shampoo

Your hair will be a little rough that first day, but after that it will be great!

Organize: The Office

The key with any organization project is to achieve efficiency. You need to do what makes sense to you. That being said, here are a few things that make sense to me... Spin around in your chair. That's your "daily only" space. The space you can reach from your chair should have the things you need everyday to do your job. Everything else can go in a cabinet or drawer.

1. Files

Keep on hand files that you need on a daily basis. The rest, store in a cabinet that is not in your primary workspace.
Don't get behind in your filing... trust me, it doesn't end well.
Have a directory if you have extensive filing and label cabinets properly to help you find things quickly and easily.

2. Supplies

We all need paperclips and pencils, but they don't have to look horrible.
Use fun containers that express your personality to store paperclips, rubber bands, etc.
If you have a drawer deep enough, you can store them off your desktop, which is personally what I prefer.

3. Bulletin Boards

You can use this to put those invites that you need to RSVP for, pictures of your friend's kids that you don't know what to do with, and a host of other things.
Make it your goal to clean it off weekly so that you you're not reminded of a wedding anniversary because you still have their invitation on the board 3 years later.

Unfortunately there is no magic solution to keeping a space organized. But, you'll be amazed at how much better things are when you spend a moment everyday putting everything back in its place. That's all for now... if you have questions feel free to ask!

Organized: Clutter, clutter everywhere!

I didn't come up with this idea, but I love it!

Everyday take 2 garbage bags and take a trip around your house...

Fill one with things that need to be thrown away...

Fill one with things that can be given away...

And in a matter of a week you will have reduced the clutter by 14 bags!!!!

This is a perfect thing to do when you don't have a lot of time, or when the clutter is so overwhelming you don't know where to begin!

Welcome to my blog! Thank you for stopping by and checking it out. My goal is for this blog to be a tool for making your life a little more fabulous.

Anyone who knows me can testify that I enjoy being clean. I would like to think that through some trial and error I have figured out how to keep your house clean without going crazy!

Another thing that I am well-known for is my mad organization skills. I LOVE to organize... please let me come over! Since I cannot actually go to all of your homes and do it for you, I'd like to give you ideas that are easy to use and make your space more efficient.

I am a shopper. I have done it more than I should probably admit to, but through it all I have uncovered the secrets to sales. So if you don't have time to hunt for the bargains, stop by the blog and let me lead the way!

To make it easy, I will break down my entires into the following categories.

Clean: This will be a cleaning tip or some ideas that I have about scheduling, etc.

Organized: I am so excited to share with you ways that I have made my home and others more space-friendly! I will be sure to include pictures!

Sale: Whenever I come across a good deal, you will hear about it!

Products: There are so many things that I love and want to share! I'll share everything from my favorite all-purpose cleaner to my favorite eyeshadow. And to help you save time I will be sure to include information about how you can find it!
